In just a few short months, AV Programming Associates will celebrate its 20th anniversary! Not many small businesses reach this milestone—especially those in the tech space. We’ve seen programming companies and AV companies come and go. Some start out with a bang and then shut down just as abruptly, while others slowly fade away over the course of several years. Unlike those, AVPA has seen steady growth over the past 20 years and has become one of the leading Crestron programming companies in the United States.
We opened our doors on September 11, 2001 (yes, THAT September 11) to provide customized control of audio and video systems in homes and businesses. Since then, a lot has changed. Technology has evolved, employees and partners have come and gone, and our headquarters has moved from San Diego, California to Lake Tahoe, Nevada. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is our commitment to our clients. With every project we work on—big or small—we make sure every client is completely satisfied with our work. We believe this is one of the main reasons we’ve outlasted many of our competitors.
In a recent interview on Superbcrew.com, AVPA Owner and President Matt Grisafe had this to say about AVPA’s long-term success:
I believe that we excel because of our personal approach. We build and maintain solid relationships with our clients. We are also a great group of people with a sound moral compass. Our clients appreciate our honest, ethical approach to business. We do what we say we’re going to do, and complete projects to our clients’ satisfaction.”
If you’ve ever worked with Matt, you know this isn’t just lip service. He believes in treating people right and maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards in his company.
Upcoming Book from Matthew Grisafe
Earlier this year, Matt decided to write a book to reflect on his 20 years in business and to offer some advice and tips to other business owners looking to grow their own businesses. In the book, he talks a lot about this personal approach to business and how he approaches relationships with employees, contractors, clients, and vendors. He has a “people first” mindset that has served his company well, creating loyal employees and repeat customers.
This won’t be your typical business book with big promises for success and empty catch phrases. Rather, it will be an approachable, common sense, and relatable book, full of practical advice and real-world examples that are applicable to business owners in any industry. Matt knows that his business didn’t get to 20 years by accident. There were many intentional decisions made along the way that have contributed to its success. In this book, Matt hopes to pass along some business tips that have served his company well, which he hopes will help others find greater success.
The book is currently in the editing stage and will be released in September, in conjunction with AVPA’s 20th anniversary. It will be available for purchase on all the major bookselling platforms. We’ll post an update on our blog when it is finished and ready for purchase, so stay tuned for more information!
