Crestron products are highly specialized. Not every home or company needs the level of functionality they can provide, but those that do often want additional, customized functionality, which is provided by a Crestron programmer or Crestron programming company.
The only programmers authorized to work with Crestron products are those with the title Crestron Service Provider (CSP). This is a certification given out by Crestron only to select programmers and programming companies. According to Crestron, “… having earned his or her stripes through intensive training and real-world experience, a Crestron Service Provider offers a much higher level of experience and familiarity with Crestron. If you are looking to hire a programmer for your project, make sure they are a listed CSP.”
When we first opened AVPA back in 2001, we became a Crestron Authorized Independent Programmer (CAIP), which was Crestron’s official certification for programmers at the time. Since then, Crestron has changed the name of their certification program from CAIP to CSP. Our owner and President, Matt Grisafe, was involved in the process of changing the name from CAIP to CSP when he served as a member of the Crestron Advisory Board.
Crestron Service Providers are required to have at least three years of professional programming experience and go through stringent testing with Crestron prior to being certified. As a company that has been in existence for 20 years now, we are one of the most experienced Crestron Service Providers in the entire country, and we work hard to stay up to date on the latest in our industry in order to provide the best service possible to our residential and commercial customers.
Finding a Crestron Service Provider Near You
CSPs can be a bit hard to come by. There are major cities in the United States that don’t even have one CSP in them. Our company is headquartered in Lake Tahoe, but we are the nearest CSP to Reno and many parts of Northern California. We also have an office in San Diego, but we find ourselves traveling to Palm Springs and even to parts of Arizona for Crestron programming projects. Not only is AVPA one of the few certified CSPs in these areas, but we are also among an even smaller group that provides support for existing systems. Most Crestron programming companies only provide service for new Crestron systems, so our support services are often in high demand for individuals and companies with older Crestron systems.
There are programmers out there who will claim to be able to work on Crestron systems, but unless you are familiar with programming for AV systems or control systems yourself, there will be no way to know if they are actually qualified until it is too late. Hiring a CSP like AVPA is a great way to make sure you hire a programmer who is knowledgeable and experienced working with Crestron systems.
To get started with your upcoming Crestron programming project, please contact AVPA by phone or through our online form.
