Matthew Grisafe Interviewed for Tech News Website
AV Programming Associates President Matthew Grisafe was recently interviewed for an article featured on SuperbCrew, a tech news website dedicated to covering “innovative technology and internet companies.” In the interview, Matt was given the opportunity to talk about the company’s history as Crestron programmers in San Diego, how they stand out as a professional AV company in a field of hobbyists, and what the future holds for AVPA.
Matt was also able to offer advice to other business owners, particularly those interested in starting a Crestron programming company. Here are some of Matt’s words of wisdom from the interview:
“It’s…important for a startup in the audiovisual industry to specialize in something. Being an AV generalist may hinder your ability to set yourself apart from everyone else, because although professional audiovisual is a niche industry, there’s still plenty of competition.”
“The more professional you can be, the better you’ll be positioned for success. You don’t want potential customers to think of you as a hobbyist. [Using] contracts, and other business basics will help keep you above the fray.”
“…[P]ersonnel is key. You want people who treat your business as their own. Attitude is everything. You can teach the specifics, but attitude and discipline come from within.”
