The trends in corporate office layouts are constantly changing. For a long time, it was common to see a corporate office space with executive offices, multiple cubicles, and a large conference room for meetings. In this setup, every employee had their own dedicated space. Then, the trend in office space design shifted away from cubicles toward more open concept spaces. The idea was to encourage communication and spark impromptu brainstorming and problem-solving sessions among employees. Many employees love the free flow of ideas that this setup promotes, but they also crave a more enclosed space that’s free from distractions. In an open concept office, the only option is typically a conference room, which often needs to be booked in advance.
Enter the huddle room.
Huddle rooms are a relatively new concept in corporate space design. They are small meeting spaces designed to host spontaneous meetings that employees don’t necessarily want to conduct out in the open. These aren’t just small conference rooms, however. They are usually a more casual space with comfortable chairs and/or standing work stations that help promote creativity and the free flow of ideas. They are also outfitted with some key pieces of audiovisual technology.
Some of the components that you would find in a typical corporate huddle room include:
- Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Device
- Wall-mounted Television or Monitor
- Interactive Whiteboard
- A System for Document Sharing
As huddle rooms become more popular, many audiovisual companies are releasing products designed specifically for them. There are multiple products with out-of-the-box functionality that work well in many corporate settings. Crestron Mercury is one such device. This tabletop system can handle both video teleconferencing and document sharing, with very little setup needed. A device like this may be all you need for your corporate huddle room, but what if you’re looking for something more?
At AVPA, we use Crestron programming to take corporate huddle rooms to the next level. We can create a customized system that is tailored to the needs of your corporation. If your building already has a Crestron system in place, we can integrate your huddle room with that system. We can do things like give your employees one-touch control of the room’s lighting. There can be a “meeting mode,” a “conference call mode,” or any other setup you determine.
We can also take products from other manufacturers and bring them under Crestron control. For example, we like the Cisco VTC devices, but using Crestron programming to customize their functionality makes them even better!
At AVPA, we are Crestron programming experts! We know how to program a huddle room system for your company that combines high functionality with intuitive operation. Your employees don’t have to be IT or AV experts to operate the systems we program. They are designed in such a way that anyone can operate them with ease.
If you’ve been considering adding a huddle room to your office space, contact us at AVPA to find out what is possible with Crestron programming for huddle rooms. We look forward to hearing from you!
