A couple of months ago, we published an article on our blog about what it means that our company has the designation of being a Crestron Service Provider (CSP). We talked a bit about how a company becomes a CSP and AVPA’s history with the CSP program.
In this blog post, we wanted to talk about why it’s so important for companies and homeowners to partner with a Crestron Service Provider when you want customized Crestron programming for your new or existing system.
First of all, a CSP will have full access to tech support from Crestron. This is especially important when your Crestron programmer is working on an existing system. If there is a problem with the older hardware they are working with, the programmer can get on the phone with a Crestron representative who can diagnose issues and make recommendations. Even with brand new systems, there can be hardware problems on rare occasions. A CSP can typically get the issue resolved quickly by calling Crestron.
At AVPA, we have a great relationship with Crestron. We’ve been working with the company for more than 20 years, and they know our company well. They know we do quality programming work and are happy to get on the phone with anyone from our company when needed. When you work with a programmer that is not part of the CSP program, they won’t have access to this type of tech support from Crestron. When they run into problems, they will either have to spend extra time researching a solution (likely costing you more money), or they may be forced to abandon your project altogether, forcing you to find another Crestron programming company to complete the job.
Another great reason to hire a CSP is because they are more likely to do the job right the first time. A company that has a CSP designation has a proven track record for quality Crestron programming and goes through periodic training with Crestron to stay up to date on the latest technology. Not only that, but any company that has put in the work to become a CSP will also want to maintain their reputation within the industry and with Crestron. Doing otherwise could jeopardize their status as a CSP.
Finally, Crestron will not back up any programming work that is done by an uncertified person or company. If you hire someone other than a CSP for Crestron programming, and later, your Crestron system fails, you are on your own to troubleshoot the issues.
If you need customizations to your Crestron system, hiring a CSP is a great investment. You are almost certain to get better service, better support, and a superior end result than you would have if you had hired a Crestron programmer that isn’t certified.
