Crestron offers a wide range of products. In the past, all of them needed to be professionally programmed in order to provide any sort of functionality. But today, some Crestron products come with out-of-the-box functionality. These products are more or less “plug and play,” requiring only someone who is familiar with installing Crestron products.
So, who needs Crestron programming, which requires the skills of a trained Crestron programmer? Here are several circumstances where hiring a Crestron programmer makes sense:
You Want to Integrate Multiple Systems
One of the most common requests our Crestron programming company gets is to integrate multiple Crestron-controlled systems so they can all be managed from a single device. When used in a home, this could mean that the homeowner can control and automate things like lights, shades, pool equipment, door locks, gates, security cameras, the HVAC system, and more from their smartphone or tablet, using the Crestron app. They can even control and monitor their home’s systems remotely.
In a commercial environment, there could be customized wall-mounted touch panels that employees use to manage the building’s lighting, audio, access control, HVAC, security system, or just about any other system imaginable. Corporations find customized Crestron systems particularly useful in conference rooms, training rooms, and huddle rooms that require the use of multiple devices at once for effective communication and collaboration.
You Need Customized Functionality
Not every home or business has the same needs when it comes to automation and systems control. Some require functionality that you can’t get out of the box. That’s where Crestron programming comes in.
During AVPA’s more than 20 years in business, we have fielded some interesting requests from homeowners, business owners, and government employees. A couple of years ago, we updated an existing Crestron system in a Lake Tahoe home that included control of the home’s funicular! In a San Diego beach house for which we provided Crestron programming, the lighting control system included lights that shone into the ocean so the homeowners could surf safely at night.
We’ve also helped create customized voting systems for multiple government clients, including the Nevada Legislature, and we provided programming to control the HVAC system in Detroit’s Little Caesar’s Arena.
The possibilities with Crestron programming are almost limitless. Even when clients have what they think are outrageous requests, we can find a way to make them happen!
You Have an Existing System That Needs Updating
A good portion of AVPA’s clients come to us when they have an existing Crestron system that either doesn’t work or that they want to have additional functionality. We are one of the few Crestron programming companies that will work on existing systems that we didn’t initially program. Most other Crestron programmers will require their clients to start from scratch. However, if we can work with existing equipment and code, we will. We can do this because we’ve been in the Crestron programming business for more than 20 years. We’ve worked with multiple generations of Crestron hardware and are also experts at troubleshooting. We can often save our clients a lot of money by using the equipment they already have.
At AVPA, we work directly with end users (homeowners, facility managers, IT departments, business owners, etc.) to provide them with the functionality they need, and we also work with Crestron dealers and installers to help them meet their clients’ needs. Contact us at AVPA to learn more!
