In our December blog post we mentioned plans to release our first book in 2014. Those plans have been in the works for a while, and we’ve made major progress on the writing side of things. As such, we’re excited to announce that the book will be released on March 31st!
A self published collection of stories, lessons learned, business best practices and historic insights, “Our Code” will provide the reader with a better understanding of who we are and what we do. It includes lessons we’ve learned over the years that are applicable to nearly all small businesses, not just Crestron programmers or those in the professional audiovisual industry. Some of the topics covered include the founding of AVPA, our experience launching a new venture on September 11th 2001 and some of the attitudes we believe a successful business should maintain.
Most chapters also include a fun or interesting story that illuminates our history and provides a backdrop to our current processes and thinking. Crestron programming is a niche service, in a niche industry, but the challenges facing small businesses are the same, regardless of industry. It’s those commonalities that make our experiences of the past 13 years relevant across markets.
