Crestron Programming for a Multi-Purpose Room Used by High-Ranking Military Officials
March Air Reserve Base, located in Riverside County, California, is home to the Air Force Reserve Command’s Fourth Air Force Headquarters, as well as units from the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve Marine Corps Reserve, California Air National Guard, and the California Army National Guard. It is one of the United States Military’s oldest airfields.
March was in need of Crestron programming for the base’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The room will be used by high-level officials, mainly for presentations, but will also be used as a training center for strategic planning, and to monitor classified domestic training operations. Base personnel had been procuring equipment for the project on their own for several years until it was time to hire a general contractor to complete the room.
AVPA was brought in on the project by the general contractor, AC Lopez Construction in Oceanside, California. We were subcontracted to complete all of the Crestron programming work to give the room the functionality it needed.
Audiovisual content can be displayed on any or all of the four monitors in the room. To allow true matrix switching, a DM16X16 Crestron switcher was used. The room’s power, sound, and content switching can all be controlled from a single interface—either a touchpanel or an xPanel on a computer—making the system extremely user-friendly. The space was also configured for a FLEX audio conference system.
In addition to being the Crestron programmers on this project, we were able to bring in one of our trusted Crestron dealers from our network of integrators to complete the hardware installation and integration of the project. For this project, we recommended BarMak Systems because of their proximity to the base and our years of completing successful projects with them. This project was a true team effort between the staff on base, the general contractor, the team at AVPA, and the systems integrator.
